Bernd’s Border is an area of Horsenden Farm to be planted with soft fruits. Bernd Gauweiler was a popular resident of Ealing whose sudden passing shocked all who knew him. Questors theatre in Ealing wrote a lovely obituary for him, here.

This border, made possible by the generosity of his family and friends, is a fitting memorial to a man who enjoyed his garden, nature and a love of cookery – many of his recipes can be found on his cooking blog, and several of the Friends’ 2022 chutneys and jams (the courgette and marrow chutney and jam, and the cherry plum jam) have been cooked according to his recipes.
